Can you really learn drums on your own?

Definitely! And Drums... for All : The Essentials gives you everything you need to get off to a strong start. That said, learning by yourself takes motivation, discipline… and a little bit of structure. If you're up for the challenge, dive in — this program is a great fit.

But if you feel like you need a bit more support, working with a mentor can make a big difference. A good teacher can help you progress faster — especially when paired with a solid method like Drums... for All. That’s a combo that really works.

Where should you begin?

Start by checking out the videos in the BASICS section. Then, go to page 8 and work through the RUDIMENTS, followed by some ROCK grooves on page 24. From there, try READINGS 1 to 3 (pages 45–47) and LINEAR 1 (page 57). After that, dig into ACCENTS (p.16), HI-HAT VARIATIONS (pp. 28–29), and once you’re feeling ready, keep going at your own rhythm.
